60% of those living with dementia will experience at least one critical wandering event. These can have serious consequences for clients and causes significant stress for caregivers.
We want to explore the use of locating technology in decreasing worry and stress for caregivers, and we’re looking for participants to be a part of our study!

As a participant, you will receive the same quality care if you choose to participate. A researcher will meet with you in person, by phone, or by video conference, 4 weeks apart, at times that are convenient for you. The first visit will be about 2 hours; the second will be about 1 hour. You will be asked about your experiences and preferences, and offered a chance to try using a locating technology. The research team will be carefully following all COVID-19 protocols.

If you participate, your information is confidential. We won’t show any identifying information in reports, presentations, etc. from this study.

People with dementia or experiencing cognitive changes and their current or former caregivers who are 18+ years old and:
Are available and willing to participate in an introductory interview
Are willing to share experiences related to use and comfort with technology, and with problematic wandering,
Are living within the greater Toronto/Hamilton area, and
Are able to participate in an English-language interview/conversation

Please contact Emily King, Manager of Research Operations, at or 647-458-2091 if you are interested in participating and/or would like to learn more about this study.
