Courtney Bean
Vice President, Strategic Solutions and Partnerships
Courtney Bean is VHA’s Vice President, Strategic Solutions and Partnerships. Courtney joined VHA in 2009 in the role of Director, Rehab Services and became Director, Client Services in 2011. In January 2020, Courtney was named Vice President, Integrated Care and Partnerships, and Private Services was added to his portfolio in May 2021. Courtney’s role now focuses on the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and new business to advance integrated care delivery systems and partnerships for VHA across Ontario.
Courtney is a licensed physiotherapist and graduate of the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine where he is now an Adjunct Lecturer. He completed an orthopaedic residency in California through the Ola Grimsby Institute while working at Kaiser Permanente in Occupational Medicine and is currently completing his doctorate with the Institute. In addition, Courtney completed an executive healthcare innovation fellowship (EXTRA) with Healthcare Excellence Canada (formerly Canadian Foundation of Healthcare Innovation).
Courtney is a past Director on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Physiotherapy Association (OPA) and sits on their Home Care Advisory Committee. In addition, Courtney has been nominated as President-Elect of the OPA for 2023. He is also heavily involved in the development of the Black Physiotherapists Association (BPTA) and sits on the Black Opportunity Fund Health Task Group.
Courtney is a dad of twin teens and at 5 a.m. most mornings you can find him at the gym lifting heavy weight to get his day powered up. This developed power serves him well in the heavy lifting required in his role at VHA!
