Our Research
VHA Home HealthCare is dedicated to supporting research and innovation that advances human welfare, creates new knowledge, develops our understanding and informs best practices in home and community care.
Our research focuses on key areas of home and community care that create possibilities for more independence, support clients to live at home, promote safe and rewarding working conditions for home care providers, and build toward fully integrated care across sectors. We strive to break new ground in research and development of integrated solutions that reflect the voices of our clients, caregivers and providers.
The VHA Research Vision 2025 supports VHA’s 2025 Strategic Plan: Care to Transform (Download PDF) by focusing our research in three priority areas: Better Care, Safer Teams and More Connected.

Better Care
Better care begins with listening and learning from our point-of-care providers & client partners to understand and improve clinical decisions and the care experience. The focus includes examination of documentation practices, care delivery, education & operational improvements.

Safer Teams
To inform enhancements to the work experience of our VHA team, we prioritize internal research questions focused on workplace wellbeing and opportunities for improvements to workplace health and safety.

More Connected
Through collaborations with health system partners and academics, we are prioritizing data-informed contributions to public discourse about how home care can best contribute to health system excellence and efficiency.
Our Contributions
VHA makes notable research contributions by pioneering insights in home healthcare. Our research helps in driving innovation and developing solutions that tackle critical challenges to enhance our clients and team members' lives.
