Pamela Hopwood is a PhD candidate at the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Dr. Ellen MacEachen. Pam is delighted to work with the team at VHA as a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Health System Impact Fellow (Doctoral stream) for the 2024-2025 award period. Pam was also a 2024 Graduate Research Award recipient at VHA Home HealthCare (VHA).
Pam is an experienced Personal Support Worker researcher specializing in work and health and work as a social determinant of health.
During her time with VHA, she is focusing on a Case Study as part of a larger PSW Workplace and Violence reporting tool project. The research considers empowering workers to report workplace violence and harassment. Pam will delve into the experiences of workers and study the supportive roles and activities of supervisors addressing worker complaints. The results of this study will contribute to identifying pathways for moving forward successfully following workers' experiences of violence or harassment.
