What is the Head Start Scholarship Program?
Here at VHA Home HealthCare (VHA), our people are at the centre of everything we do. We’re committed to education and promoting a culture of learning within our VHA family and beyond. The Head Start Scholarship program is a financial support for VHA team members and their children pursuing post-secondary education.
We know that the financial stress of attending college or university can be a barrier. We want you, the next generation of leaders and learners, to feel empowered to go after your learning and career goals and help you get one step closer.
The Head Start Scholarship program financially supports the children of VHA team members pursuing post-secondary education, helping them get one step closer to achieving their goals.
The Head Start Scholarship program has been running since 2012 and has seen over 300 recipients. We look forward to awarding the next cohort of scholarship recipients this summer.
"This scholarship has helped me fully embrace campus life by allowing me to live in residence and enjoy campus activities."
"Pursuing medicine is a long and expensive path. This support has helped ease financial pressures, from rent and tuition to future medical school application costs. And applying for this scholarship has always motivated me to find new ways to give back. This isn’t just about financial support. It feels like everyone at VHA is cheering me on and encouraging me to work harder."
How do I apply?
VHA is encouraging children of VHA staff and service providers to apply for one of thirty (30) scholarship awards valued at $1,500 each. Applications for 2026 are open from June 15 to July 31, 2026. Scholarship recipients will be notified by August 14, 2026.
