Accreditation Update

  •  VHA Home HealthCare Earns Fourth Accreditation

TORONTO, December 21, 2009—VHA is pleased to announce that it has once again earned full accreditation status from Accreditation Canada. The surveyors were on site to assess how well VHA meets national standards of excellence in quality and safety of home care services, organizational leadership, governance, and worklife. VHA proudly met 100 per cent of the more than 400 standards and required organizational practices, passing with flying colours.

“This accreditation is really a testament to the effort everyone at VHA makes every day. It validates our continual hard work and commitment to providing client-centred care,” notes Carol Annett, President and CEO of VHA.

VHA earned high praise for its:

• Well-established patient safety culture
• Client-centric approach across the organization
• Consistently high continuity of care levels
• Creativity in responding to community needs and collaboration with partners
• Strong and well-aligned strategic, operational and department plans
• Skilled, dedicated and involved Board
• Multitude of recent technological advancements
• Positive reputation and feedback from clients

The surveyors were particularly impressed with VHA’s ethics framework, its internalization amongst staff and the leadership role taken in the Community Ethics Network. Involvement in the Community Ethics Network has been put forth as a leading practice in the field.
